International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme-accredited school
World standard inquiry based education for the children of Yamanashi Gakuin Elementary School is an integrated educational program with Yamanashi Gakuin Kindergarten, and became an “International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme-accredited school” in February 2019. Yamanashi Gakuin is the first school to receive International Baccalaureate (PYP) accreditation for the nine continuous years of kindergarten and elementary school education stipulated by the Japanese School Education Act. This accreditation is a landmark event that will serve as a model for the Japanese educational community, and Yamanashi Gakuin Kindergarten and Elementary School will continue to conduct advanced educational activities as an “IB World School”.
Global Human Resource Education
English education is also addressed from the first year, with classes held three times a week by a foreign teacher who has designed the curriculum and created special teaching materials. Students also have opportunities to interact with foreign staff and International students from Yamanashi Gakuin University, deepening their understanding of Japanese culture and cultures around the world and improving their English and cross-cultural communication skills.
